This product, from the Middle East is a wonderful mix of Hazel and Macadamia nuts, sesame seed and 9 spices.
The nuts are roasted and then chopped (rather than milled) to give the product a chunky texture. It has many uses (see below), especially for vegetable dishes, but is very effective as a rub on chicken. I call it “Banting MSG” for its effectiveness in lifting a dullish dish to tasty splendor. It is sold in jars which have an insert suggesting many foods it is companion to:
“great as a bread dip with olive oil or with cream/cottage cheese; as a sprinkle over green salad, avocado, roast veggies, meats, chicken or eggs; add to oil when cooking fish, or just sprinkle over when cooked. Add a spoon to a bowl of cooked rice or soup, or include in yoghurt & honey dessert, or in a crumble. You will want to try it with everything!”
